Home Air Ionizers
A home air ionizer is an ozone-free filter and comes in an attractive casing. It usually combines the best five air purifying technologies in one unit viz. air ionizers for particles, bacteria resistant pre-filters for large particles, HEPA filters for allergens and dust, a germicidal ultraviolet light for microorganisms and an activated charcoal filter for odors, smokes and chemicals.
Tests have revealed that air ionizers with genuine HEPA filters are far more effective than other types of air filters when it comes to capturing pollen, dust, mold spores, dust mites, ragweed and other allergens. The germicidal ultraviolet light has been recommended by US Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Besides, the Penn State Department of Aerobiological Researchers have also recommended the use of air ionizers as they comprise charcoal filters for removing volatile organic compound (VOC), chemicals and odors which other purifiers cannot. The US Department of Agriculture has found air ionizers to be nearly 99 per cent effective for eliminating airborne dust and particulates.
The appliance has replacement costs running up to less than $50 for replacing the ultraviolet lamp and filters each year. The power fan of such devices increases the efficiency of air cleaning by effectively circulating the air. It has very low power consumption.
